Your smile is very important to Dr. Nirmal Aujla and our dental team. This is why we encourage you to replace your missing teeth–so you can have the strong oral health you want, as well as the beautiful smile you desire. Getting dentures is one method of replacing your missing teeth.

There are two kinds of dentures: partial dentures and complete dentures. Partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth in a row; complete dentures replace all of your teeth. Partial dentures attach onto the remaining natural teeth on both sides of the gap, while complete dentures suction to the roof of the mouth. Both appliances replace teeth and offer natural-looking results.

It’s normal for dentures to feel slightly uncomfortable when you first wear them, but you will get used to them as time passes. They will make you salivate more than normal, which takes some adjustment. To help you quickly get used to the appliance, you can practice chewing and talking when the dentures are in place.

Even with dentures, it is important to practice excellent oral hygiene. Brush your gums, tongue, and roof of your mouth with a soft-bristled toothbrush to help remove plaque and prevent bad breath. Be sure to clean your dentures every day according to your dentist’s instructions.
